THE FUTURE
If any of these churches are closed and Canon Law 517 §2 is ignored by the Archdiocese of Hartford then we can anticipate Pastoral Planning Three.
The Archdiocese of Hartford perhaps acting through some type of committee of the new mega-parish may determine that St. Joseph Church requires extensive repairs which cannot be afforded by the new mega parish. Also, the attendance at St. John the Evangelist Church might well decline with its early morning Mass.
Two more faith communities may face an unwelcomed diaspora.
The new mega-parish with the encouragement of the Archdiocese may then move forward with only St. Jerome Church and St. Francis of Assisi Church remaining. Thus, the retreat in New Britain will be completed.
Only five of the parishes, or four when Holy Cross and Sacred Heart are merged, will remain.
St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, St. Maurice, St. Peter and St. Andrew will join All Saints Church as their assets are sold, and their faith communities dispersed.
